Construction work is currently underway for a brand-new hostel at the school, a facility designed to significantly improve the quality of life for hard working staff. Thanks to initial funding, preparations have progressed rapidly, with the foundation trenches dug and the first batch of concrete blocks already produced.
The hostel will feature five bedrooms for staff, reducing the burden of long commutes that currently costs up to 15% of their monthly wages. In addition to providing much-needed living spaces, the facility will include a smaller room for the school caretaker, a communal lounge, and essential washroom facilities.
Work on the foundations is nearing completion, with the final layout confirmed and full-scale construction scheduled to begin on Wednesday. The team on the ground is highly motivated, and we expect to see rapid progress in the coming days. This initiative underscores our dedication to supporting educational development and the communities we serve.
Stay tuned for more updates as the project takes shape. We look forward to celebrating the opening of this new facility and the positive impact it will have on Westminster Community Secondary School Kona.
