Operating a complex container screening solution involves much more than maintenance. There is often a disconnect between Customs requirements and the Ports provision for screening. Implementing a screening solution which generally cost many millions of dollars and then waiting for it to go wrong before carrying out simple maintenance can leave a big hole in the security process and allow goods to slip through and Customs missing important revenue.
Westminster can provide a suite of management services to both the Port and Customs giving an onsite full turnkey management solution ensuring systems are working to their optimum performance at all times and ensuring any maintenance works are scheduled efficiently with the least disruption to traffic movements. At all times the Customs officials would be in full control of the decision process but with the backup of a expert screening management team to deal with any problems.
Ensuring fully trained operations and engineering teams are always present give peace of mind to all stakeholders. Most Port facilities operate 24/7 and so should the container screening service. Westminster operational commitments means when the worst happens there is always a team present to rectify any issue as quickly as possible.
No two projects are alike and Westminster can provide bespoke solutions to meet the specific needs of any port or harbour.
Expanding the port's capacity from 1 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units ('TEU') pa to over 3.5 million pa, creating a world-class container port operation with some of the largest and most advanced Ship-to-Shore cranes in the world. The port has advanced automated processing systems including the container screening solutions, ensuring that there will be 100% screening of all containers entering or leaving the port.
Westminster and local partners Scanport were selected to provide a professional container screening solution at the port under a 5 year renewable contract. Westminster, as the Technical Partner, deployed an expert team to the port at short notice and put in place all the required systems and solutions required to have an efficient container screening operation up and running ready for the formal opening of the new container port facility on 28 June 2019.
